Column Type Label Description
datetime timestamp Date

Date for which the inversion is being predicted. This will be one day, three days, or five days ahead of the date in forecast_version.

latitude_str text Latitude

Latitude of the center of the grid cell that the inversion prediction is for.

longitude_str text Longitude

Longitude of the center of the grid cell that the inversion prediction is for.

place text Place

A human-readable name for a place within the geographic area of the prediction. This is kind of a landmark to help users find places of interest in the table.

inversion int4 Inversion prediction

Integer indicating whether an inversion is predicted for this latitude/longitude/date. 1 means an inversion is forecast; 0 means no inversion is forecast.

temp_diff float8 Temperature difference

The temperature difference between the Earth's surface and the top of the inversion, in degrees C. (0 for non-inversions.)

height text Height

The height in meters of the top of the inversion above the surface height. (0 for non-inversions.)

strength int4 Strength

Inversion strength, categorized using a 5-point scale where 0=None, 1=Slight, 2=Weak, 3=Moderate, and 4=Strong. (0 for non-inversions.)

forecast_version text Forecast identifier

This is a date and time that identifies when the GEOS-FP forecast was started. For instance 2024-10-31_00 would refer to the GEOS-FP run that commenced on Halloween at 00Z (a synoptic time of 00 UTC).
