Pittsburgh Zoning Map 1967

The 1967 zoning map, dated 12/28/1967, is one of the surviving zoning maps that capture amendments to the map after the 1958 Zoning Ordinance was adopted. High level changes between 1958 and 1967 are adjustments to zoning district boundaries to support urban renewal projects and adjustments to the locations of the Special District introduced in 1958 to protect the city's hillsides. Details Reviewed created this map based on the paper map available at the University of Pittsburgh Library System Digital Collections. Digitization of the map was funded by the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency's Kathy A. Possinger Housing Policy Fellowship.

Data Notes

This digitization of the City of Pittsburgh's 1967 zoning map is Detailed Reviewed's interpretation of the original paper map. The original map varied in scale, accuracy, and detail. Where reasonable, in the digitization, zoning district boundaries were placed following the street grid and property lines of 2024. In some areas, where highway development, urban renewal, and other changes decimated the street grid and property boundaries between 1967 and 2024, the digitized zoning district boundaries are an approximation based on the remaining context clues, including the 1958 zoning map district boundaries.
