The intended outcomes of this program were to see if converting to bins would increase recycling participation rates of households and improve the quality of recycling material. The pilot program report shows, the city landfill costs from recycling efforts have been declining since 2013. This decrease might be due to an increase of more people recycling. As the city collects higher quality recycling materials it diverts trash to go to landfills, therefore, spends less on landfills costs (Northside Bin Recycling Pilot Program Report).

"We are gearing up for Inclusive Innovation Week 2017 with lessons learned from 2016, additional planning time, a clearer mission and additional capacity.

We plan to measure the below metrics for Inclusive Innovation Week 2017:
Number of neighborhoods hosting IIW event –
Number of organization involved –
Number of event attendees –
Articles and press coverage for events –

Last year the goal was to have 16 events over the course of one week. That goal was blown away with 63 events on the calendar. This year the goals are as follows:

1. 20 new host partners (2016 = 34)

2. 80% free events and 100% open to the public (2016 = 68%)

3. 9 districts activated with programming (2016 = 7) (8, 7, 6 (downtown section), 5, 3, 1 (southern section) (districts 4 and 2 featured no event programming)

4. 25 neighborhoods activated with programming (2016 = 13)

As per usual, it is less about quantity and more about quality. We are trying to consider the coordination of events this year and be more conscious of barriers to entry. We are also encouraging collaboration and are interested in seeing if collaborative events create more welcoming spaces. We are also working hard to make sure council is involved and reach out to organizations that are not always part of the innovation conversation.
